Online learning community
For neurodivergent girls
Ages 9-11

I will be running a pilot of this program in Spring of 2026. If you would like to be kept informed on the details, please send a message from the CONNECT page or email me at Beth@EncourageEducation.net. Thank you!

About Alcove

The purpose of Alcove is to create a gathering and co-learning space, especially for neurodiverse tween girls. I want them to feel comfortable interacting, having discussions, and even working together, without the distractions and anxiety of being with kids who don't understand them.

Alcove is not a "class" per se, but a facilitated, self-directed environment. I will bring activities for getting to know each other, interesting discussion questions, and self-reflection activities so they can get to know themselves as learners. Students will also have access to my private app, CurioQuest, where they can search the internet and find kid-friendly content, set goals, and identify their interests. Parents will have access to a parent portal where they can view their child's searches and goals, and limit screen time and the age level of the content.

What makes Alcove unique?

  • Online community space - a safe space to talk, collaborate, and learn. All activities are opt-in - I will never force participation. Discussions and ideas will be shared in the opening, giving students who need a prompt a starting place.

  • Self-directed environment - the girls will shape what they do during the session. They will establish the norms and guidelines for the group. They can use the time to work on their own projects, collaborate, or receive guidance from me. Students who join the pilot will be building the program with me!

  • Who is considered "neurodivergent"? Does my child need to have a diagnosis? No diagnosis is needed. The class if for girls with autism, ADHD, anxiety, learning differences, and more. If you attend information nights and you and your child feel this program will be a benefit, please join us!

  • What kinds of things will students do? It will depend partly on where the group takes it, but here are some examples:

    • Discuss questions, such as "Would you rather?" or "What would you do?"

    • Play online games that encourage interaction

    • Complete reflections on themselves as learners, what interests they want to explore, etc.

    • Use the CurioQuest app to find media and information about the topics they're interested in

    • Develop projects to share their learning with friends, family, or their community

  • How does the pilot work? The pilot will probably be in March 2026. I will hold info sessions in January and/or February. These will be Zoom meetings where I will show some of the possible activities, and you and your child can ask questions. You will also be able to schedule a private meeting with me if you have additional questions. I will provide a sign-up form, explain pricing, and give the exact dates to those interested.
